Who We Are
Palaestra, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1994 to provide home education families with quality enrichment classes at an affordable rate. Classes are held on Fridays at Trinity Covenant Church, 34500 Six Mile Rd., in Livonia. Palaestra is a decidedly Christian organization. Biblical standards for life and conduct are encouraged. The Palaestra Board of Directors seeks to maintain a Christ honoring atmosphere, and strives to adhere to a biblical standard of ethics in business.
Should we decide to cancel classes due to snow, it will be announced on the local television stations. It will also be announced by the scrolling marquee on the website.

Parent/Student Agreement and Waiver:
All policies are established for the safety, benefit, and well-being of all our families. Our goal is to provide a wholesome, family-friendly atmosphere where learning is encouraged and supported. STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT: Students are expected to: Be respectful to everyone; teachers, other adults, and peers. This means that students should not be disruptive in class, should not walk away when spoken to by adults, and there is definitely no punching, shoving or otherwise harming another student. Be on time to class. Please make every effort to arrive in enough time to allow students be on time for the start of class. Complete all assignments given by their teachers, particularly for high school classes. Not eat or drink in the classrooms unless directed by the instructor. Dress modestly. Modest dress means; no short shorts, or mini-skirts; no super tight jeans (boys or girls); no tank tops /spaghetti straps without an outer shirt; no pajamas; no pants hanging down or boxer briefs showing; revealing and seductive clothing is inappropriate for a school setting. Any disregard of, or refusal to adhere to the dress code will be met with a request to change, cover up, or leave. Use the hallways to go to and from class, or the bathroom. Students in off-limits areas will be asked to return to their parents. Nerf guns or swords, air soft, etc., weaponry toys are not permitted. We have basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, jump ropes, etc. Board games, Legos and other small toys are fine. Guns, knives, pocket knives, drugs or alcohol are strictly forbidden. Martial arts weapons (except in class), are not permitted. Students found in possession of such items will be immediately suspended from classes for the day. Students may be allowed to return at an appropriate time, after meeting with parents and board members. The Sanctuary and church office area is off limits except to go to and from class, per Trinity. Roller shoes are not allowed per Trinity. Climbing the short wall out front or the trees is not allowed per Trinity. PALAESTRA POLICIES: Parents are required to be on the premises the entire length of time during which your child is in class. If for some reason you must leave, you are required to sign the Parent Sign Out sheet at the front table with a contact number and the name of a temporary guardian. The temporary guardian must be on premises and will be responsible for your child in the case of an emergency. Any child on the premises must be either in a classroom or under the parent/guardian supervision. Palaestra is not responsible for your childs attendance or timely arrival to class. Palaestra is unable to monitor your childs whereabouts at all times; this is the responsibility of the parent(s). Children who are able to drive are required to sign in at the registration desk providing an emergency phone contact. Palaestra reserves the right to use any and all photos taken during classroom activities/special events for use in the yearbook, website, brochures, special displays. Students will NOT be identified by name. PAYMENTS AND FEES: There is a non-refundable registration fee of $15 per session. Finalizing registration is a commitment to pay in full all class fees and material fees for the entire session. Payments may be made in full, or in three installments; one third at registration and a third on weeks 5 and 10. All classes have a min/max age enrollment requirement. Palaestra reserves the right to cancel, combine or make other revisions as necessary. Parent/students will be notified before classes begin. Refunds: Please refer to the HOME PAGE for the last day to drop a class (es) for a full refund. After the specified date, all requests must be made in writing and is subject to Board review. If Palaestra cancels a class due to lack of enrollment, refunds are paid in full.
