Biographical Literature

Dive into what others have accomplished for Christ and the world we live in.

Students will read books from the Christian Heroes:Then and Now series, Heroes of History series, and other biographies. Homework will be scheduled reading each week. Classwork will include a reading journal, studying the location of where our stories take place, what the culture was like, and literary aspects of the story. Alternative book report projects will also be part of the class and homework on occasion.

First semester books: Rachel Saint: A Star in the Jungle, David Livingston: Africa’s Trailblazer, George Mueller: A Guardian of Bristol’s Orphans, and Gladys Alyward:The Adventure of a Lifetime. All are Christian Heroes: Then and Now books.

Instructor Bio:

My name is Joyce Young. I homeschooled my children from preschool through high school and loved every minute of it! For the last five years I have worked part-time in a private school doing intervention, special ed. resource room work, and substitute teaching where needed. I have a degree in General Studies with a minor in history. I am very happy to be back in the homeschool community of Palaestra and have great memories from when my kids were here.
