Class Information

  J.Wile Physics 10th-12th

This college-prep physics course is designed for the student who has completed algebra 1 and has had an introduction to trigonometry, such as sine, cosine and tangent functions.

It provides a good introduction tothe concepts of general physics. Emphasizing vector analysis, this text (followed by Advanced Physics),  is an ideal preparation for a college-level physics course. It provides the student with a strong background in one-dimensional and two-dimensional motion, Newton's laws of motion and their application, gravity, work and energy, momentum, periodic motion, waves, optics, electrostatics, electrodynamics, electrical circuits, and magnetism.

Pre-requisite: This class is designed for 11th, 12th grade and mature 10th grade students, who have finished with or are currently taking Algebra II. The text assumes a working knowledge of significant digits, algebra, basic trigonometric functions and their inverses. The course will utilize the textbook, Exploring Creation with Physics, 2nd Edition by J. Wile available from www.apologia.com. Students will need the Solutions and Tests book, along with the textbook.

Classes will alternate between theory/problems and biweekly labs.  Students will be expected to keep pace in the text at home. Quizzes and tests will be administered at home by the parents and will be turned in to the teacher for grading.
