  Intro to Electronics 8th-12th
   
  

I would like to take a few high school students on an adventure with electronics.  We'll start with some fundamental concepts of electronics, experiment with electronics, write up a few lab reports and put together a Powerpoint presentation.  We'll also have each student build a kit or two he or she can keep.
Course Objectives:
Understand basic electronic components (Resistors, capacitors, wires, lights, switches)
Understand electric concepts (voltage, current, power)
Understand basic test equipment (power supply, meter, oscilloscope)
Techniques for building and testing electronic devices
Project #0 - how to solder, how to pick out components, how to put them together
Project #1 - a kit that each student will build  and keep.

  Instructor Bio:
  I have turned my childhood interest in electronics into a career and now work as a technical expert with Robert Bosch LLC, responsible for designing automotive safety electronics for several million vehicles per year and training the engineers in my department. My wife and I have enjoyed homeschooling our three children; the oldest two are now at college, the youngest is still attending Palaestra.
