Class Information

   
  Palaestra Drama 12+
   
  Palaestra Highschool theater will perform a comedy. The play will be picked once the class begins. The first semester will be spent learning about theatre and how to act on stage. We will learn about the importance of tech roles and how to perform them. We will spend some time exploring different theatre genres including comedy, drama, mystery/suspense... We will discuss and learn how to cold read lines and audition for parts. We will have auditions for roles in the comedy play we will put on in the spring. Roles will be assigned based on auditions. Students will be required to memorize lines and perform on stage. Second semester will be used to practice for the play. During production week (the week of the performance) daily practices may be required.

  Instructor Bio:
  Patsy has taught at Palaestra since 2002. She has her BA from the University of Michigan in Speech/Communications and Theater and her MA from Eastern Michigan University in Drama/Theater for the Young. She has been a teacher in the Theatre Arts since 1988. She owns the Shoe-String Theatre Co, LLC and has taught drama classes and workshops in local schools and at the Livonia YMCA. She also has her CDA for Early Childhood Development and was a Music Teacher at the Livonia Montessori School.
