  English Composition

*Please note that this class can be open to new students. The will have missed out on the MLA portion; however, the APA is much more important, and more widely used in college classes. :-) In this comprehensive course, students will be taught to write formal papers according to MLA and APA formatting. Class time will include instruction on each step and focus on the principles of argumentation - proving and supporting your points with unbiased and objective evidence, while allowing for individual expression. Weekly homework assignments will provide practice on the lessons presented in class. Our final assignments will include two research papers, one in MLA and the other in APA. Students will need a three ring binder with paper and will be expected to be prepared to write! Course Information: This is a comprehensive, two-semester class. During the first semester, all assignments were written in the MLA format. During the second semester, all assignments will be written in the APA format. Students will be thoroughly instructed on these two formats as well as the many different aspects of scholarly writing. Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Many college freshmen begin school without the knowledge of how to write a formal paper. This class will prepare them to write very high level papers in ALL of their college courses, not only their writing classes.
