Class Information

  Marvelous Michigan/ Nifty Fifty

The fall semester will be devoted to the great state of Michigan! We will learn about the settlement of our Great Lakes, our amazing sports teams’ history, the automotive legacy of Detroit, our state capitol, a little bit of how government works, and even why our freeways are named in a certain way. We will play BINGO, hang man, and our own invented game called Circle of Champions. There are maps to color, crafts to create, and stories to tell about how Marvelous Michigan came to be our home sweet home!

The winter/spring semester will be spent looking at the Nifty Fifty United States of America. Students will learn about four states and four presidents every week. The worksheets will combine to make a beautiful binder of fun facts and activity pages. An emphasis will be placed on the geography of the U.S.A. as well as the major industries of our country. We will also discuss how our government is structured and a brief description of our founding documents.
